Described as the easy-to-use, powerful note-taking application for all of your ideas, Microsoft OneNote Mobile is a new application by the team behind Microsoft Office, coded specifically for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

According to Microsoft, OneNote Mobile lets you create and view notes and lists whenever you need them.

Users are able to sync their notes with free Windows Live online storage and access them from virtually anywhere using their iPhone, their computer, or almost any web browser, according to the Redmond, Washington-based Windows maker.

In usual manner, the app’s iTunes App Store description includes the key benefits, which Microsoft outlines as follows:

▪ Create flexible notes that can include text, pictures, bullets, and checkboxes ▪ Check To Do items off on the go ▪ Save time with quick access to your most recent notes ▪ Work with confidence—OneNote Mobile automatically syncs your notes with Windows Live in the background ▪ Organize your notes into sections or create new notebooks using OneNote 2010 or OneNote Web App and access them from your iPhone.

OneNote requires an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or higher, according to Microsoft, which fails to document the firmware requirement on iPads, with the Apple tablet being listed as a supported device.

The app also calls for a free Windows Live ID. As they launch the app for the first time, users can type in an existing account, or use OneNote to sign up.

Additionally, web functionality uses the free OneNote Web App available on Windows Live, which requires a supported web browser.

OneNote is able to open notebooks created in Microsoft OneNote 2010 or the OneNote Web App.

The customizing section colors requires Microsoft OneNote 2010.

Users can further edit and organize the notebook, or create more notebooks, via OneNote Web App or on the PC.

However, the app does not require having OneNote on the PC, nor does it require accessing the OneNote Web App.

OneNote is a free download for a limited time, the company said, therefore readers are encouraged to download the application while the offer still lasts.

Also worth noting is that the app seems to be available in the U.S iTunes Store only.
