Apple has approved and subsequently removed a photography application that posed as one of the most popular apps of its kind on iTunes - Camera+.

Allegedly developed by Pursuit Special, the fake Camera+ app was removed from the iTunes App Store as soon as Glyn Evans made his discovery.

In response to the news, the real Camera+ developers, Tap Tap Tap, said on Twitter: “Oh, Apple and your all too often disappointing approval process.”

The people at Tap Tap Tap have every right to be upset. Apple prides itself on the strict limitations it imposes when approving software in the App Store.

Ever since the iPhone 4S was released, Camera+ sells a new copy every three seconds, according to the developers’ statistics. Sales have so far totaled $5.1 million, with no signs of stopping.
