Apple has opened a new section on the iTunes Store called “Best of 2013.” As you might have already guessed, it features the best digital content of the year, with a big focus on apps for iPhone and iPad.

In the apps tab, Apple reveals that the Game of the Year award goes to Ridiculous Fishing, a relatively inexpensive title which, according to Apple’s editors, features “great controls, hugely rewarding challenges, and vibrant retro-style graphics.”

The App of the Year award goes to Duolingo, an app that lets you learn new languages with fun mini-games.

Apple then proceeds to list the runners up, and enumerates some special categories for the best six apps in every genre. These include Stylish Photo Editing, Indie Games, Innovative Kids Apps, Blockbuster Games, Split-Second Video, Fast Reaction Games, Fitness Revolution, etc.

To access the Best of 2013 section, simply launch the iTunes Store and wait for the banner to reel into position, and then click it.
