Alongside the release of iPhoto 8.1, Apple has confirmed the existence of an extra-large hardcover photo book available for those who enjoy printing their photos to make albums and photo-books.

The latest update to iPhoto ‘09 adds several new, print-product options, including the ability to order a hardcover book in the new, extra-large (13" x 10") size. The option also includes three new book themes with travel-oriented designs – Tropical, Asian, and Old World.

“iPhoto 8.1, the latest update to iPhoto ‘09, introduces an extra-large version of the popular hardcover photo book,” Apple reveals on its website. “The new 13 x 10-inch size book — nearly 40% bigger than the traditional large book — features the same full-cover dust jacket and a new satin finish on the photo wrap cover. It makes a perfect gift or coffee table addition. Also included in this update are new travel book and holiday card themes,” the company explains.

“In iPhoto, you can create unforgettable gifts and keepsakes. Like a hardbound photo book with a photo-wrapped cover and matching dust jacket. A gorgeous calendar. Your own greeting cards. Choose a theme, drop in your photos, add text, and click to buy. Beautifully printed pieces will be delivered to your door [...] With iPhoto ’09 you can make 11 x 8.5-inch or 13 x 10-inch hardcover books with photo-wrapped covers and matching dust jackets. Every hardcover book uses a traditional bookbinding style — complete with a striped headband — just like books from the bookstore,” the Mac maker touts its offerings.

Available immediately in the 13" x 10" size, the extra-large hardcover photo book comes with 20 pages (ten sheets) and costs USD $49.99 to buy. Additional pages go for USD $1.49 each, for a maximum of 100 pages per book. Visit Apple here for more information on iPhoto print products.
