Apple has announced the schedule for this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) which kicks off June 6 at the usual location in San Francisco’s Moscone West, with a focus on “the future of iOS and Mac OS”.

Partially confirming rumors that iOS 5 is to be unveiled at this year’s edition of WWDC, Apple today confirmed the roadmap for its summer 2011 activities, including 100+ technical sessions presented by Apple engineers, and demonstrations of the new kinds of apps that programmers can build using Apple’s advanced frameworks.

“At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.”

Apple is widely believed to showcase iOS 5 at WWDC 2011, while OS X Lion is already confirmed as a shipping product this summer.

As far as mobile developers are concerned, Apple has prepared sessions in which they will be able to “explore the latest innovations and capabilities of iOS and learn how to greatly enhance the functionality, performance and design of their apps,” the tech giant said.

On the desktop front, “Mac developers will see and learn how to develop world-class Mac OS X Lion applications using its latest technologies and capabilities.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own work to the labs so they can work on it side by side with Apple engineers, apply new techniques and practices, and ultimately walk out with better code.

Apple’s announcement does little to confirm any specific unveilings, but here’s what the Mac maker says we can expect:

Activities at Apple’s WWDC 2011 include:

· more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers on a wide range of technology-specific topics for developing, deploying and integrating the latest iOS and Mac OS technologies; · over 1,000 Apple engineers providing developers with code-level assistance, insight into optimal development techniques, and guidance on how they can make the most of iOS and Mac OS technologies in their apps; · the opportunity to connect with thousands of fellow iPad®, iPhone® and Mac developers from around the world; and · Apple Design Awards which recognize iPad, iPhone and Mac apps that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation and outstanding design.
