As Apple hit the 100 million downloads milestone on its Mac App Store, the Cupertino giant opened a section called ‘Best of Mac App Store 2011’, allowing every Mac user running OS X Lion or Snow Leopard to access a wealth of premium apps, both paid and free, all gathered in a single place for one click download and install.

The App & Game of the Year awards go to Pixelmator and Civilization V: Campaign Edition, respectively.

Runners up were algoriddim’s mixing app, djay, and a game by 11 bit studios s.a. called Anomaly Warzone Earth.

In the general section of Best Apps of 2011, noteworthy titles include Reeder, 1Password, Evernote, Apple’s own Final Cut Pro, OmniGraffle, DaisyDisk, SketchBook Pro, iBank and others.

Then Best Games tab lists titles like Psychonauts, Galaxy on Fire 2, Colin McRae: DIRT 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Angry Birds (of course), Bejeweled and others.
