The CarPlay lineup has added nine new brands overnight, jumping to over two dozen committed partners who are including / plan to include Apple’s infotainment system in select vehicles.

Apple has updated the list of “committed” CarPlay partners, noting that customers can expect the system to be adopted by Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Mazda, and RAM.

Around 30 brands in total are now committed to implementing CarPlay in select vehicles that they ship or plan to ship in the near future. Of those, Apple has confirmed manufacturers like BMW, Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Land Rover, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Subaru, Jaguar, and others.

Some audio manufacturers have joined the effort as well. Alpine and Pioneer have confirmed plans to provide their customers with after-market CarPlay integration solutions, offering a way for existing cars to have their audio system upgraded and employ CarPlay.

CarPlay is compatible with iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5. iPads and iPod touch players are not supported by the infotainment system.

CarPlay supports apps like Beats Music, iHeartRadio, At Bat, Spotify, Stitcher, and Apple’s own Podcasts. It shows them on the car’s dashboard display in a manner specifically tailored to be used while driving. Users can control many of CarPlay features using Siri (i.e. by voice).
