Apple will resolve a class action lawsuit involving faulty liquid submersion indicators in iPhones and iPods by paying $53 (€41) million to customers, making some eligible for a $300 / €232 refund.

As reported by Bloomberg, the plaintiffs’ attorneys are saying the liquid submersion indicators used by Apple to determine if a device has come in contact with water are unreliable.

They could be triggered by moisture during ordinary use, such as in an environment where humidity levels are high, but still within the accepted limits.

Because of this, many customers have been denied repairs under warranty. These customers formed a legal angry mob known as a class-action lawsuit and hit Apple with the above-mentioned claims.

Apple has lost, and it will now pay $53 (€41) million to the customers to resolve the matter. Depending on the device model they owned, consumers may be eligible for $300 / €232.
