Cupertino needs more manpower to roll out its smart-watch next year

Apple is believed to have begun hiring “aggressively” for its rumored iWatch project in recent weeks, and that said product won’t be released until next year.

The news comes from the Financial Times (subscription required), which cites people familiar with Apple’s plans as saying that staffing up is a clear indication that the company “has stepped up development.”

However, at the same time, the move “raises questions over the ability of its own engineers to develop wearable technology,” the sources reportedly concluded.

One source specifically noted that the endeavor involves “hard engineering problems that they’ve not been able to solve.”

The good news is that these claims seem to add more confirmation to the existence of the Apple smart-watch.

The bad news is that it appears we won’t be seeing this thing until 2014, according to the same report.
