Mac users running Windows using the Boot Camp utility supplied by Apple have new updates to install, should they want to eliminate some “critical” bugs, or to add new hardware support, including the ATI-Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, Apple USB Ethernet Adapter, and MacBook Air SuperDrive.

Apple explains that “If you have an Intel-based Mac and there's a PC application you need to use, you can run it using Boot Camp. You'll need to provide an authentic copy of Microsoft Windows but Boot Camp is included in Mac OS X Snow Leopard.”

Boot Camp Software Update 3.3 for Windows targets Win7-32 bit and Win7-64bit installations via Boot Camp 3.2.

According to the company headquartered at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California, “The Boot Camp 3.3 update includes critical bug fixes and hardware support. It is recommended for all Boot Camp 3.2 users.”

Supported Languages include Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

It appears that before posting the 3.3 update, Apple had rolled “Boot Camp Software Update 3.2 for Windows 64 bit.”

“This update adds support for the ATI-Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, Apple USB Ethernet Adapter, MacBook Air SuperDrive, and addresses critical bug fixes,” according to the company. “This update is highly recommended for all Boot Camp 3.1 users,” Apple said.

The new “hardware support” found inside Boot Camp Software Update 3.3 for Windows appears to be identical.

However, the system requirements differ. Boot Camp Software Update 3.2 for Windows 64 bit applies to Windows XP, Vista 64bit - SP2, Win7-64bit, and is to be installed over Boot Camp 3.1.
