This can happen when adding DRM-protected music to a slideshow, says Apple

Aperture customers having trouble opening iTunes from the professional photography application can breathe a sigh of relief as Apple has released documentation on its Support site which includes a quick workaround, until the company cooks up a patch.

Users may see that the “Open iTunes” button doesn’t work in the Music Browser, Apple notes, adding that “This can happen when adding DRM-protected music to a slideshow on OS X Lion and OS X Mountain Lion.”

Now that you know what’s causing Aperture to misbehave like this, Apple also admits that “This is a known issue.” In other words, expect a patch relatively soon. But until that patch arrives, you can use the following “resolution” to work around this issue.

“To work around the issue, open iTunes directly and authorize the computer to play DRM-protected songs purchased with your Apple ID. You can then return to Aperture and select the song to use in your slideshow,” Apple says.

Users who require assistance in authorizing their Mac to play DRM-protected media can visit this Support document here.
