Codenamed “Syrah,” the next-generation Mac OS is at its 60th build

People with access to Apple’s internal software seeding are reporting that Apple is speeding up the pace at which it releases OS X 10.10 builds for testing.

According to a source speaking to 9to5mac on condition of anonymity, “Apple is [...] seeding the next-generation Mac OS (OS X 10.10 ‘Syrah’) to even more employees internally.”

The company has reportedly “increased the amount of builds it releases of the operating system each week,” bringing the build number to 60, at the time of this reporting.

Although it’s codenamed “Syrah” (after a wine, I hear), the next-generation Mac OS might actually end up being labeled as version 11. It will also have an all-new name, presumably another key locale from California.

Also pretty likely is that Apple will offer OS X 10.10 as a free download, just like it did with OS X 10.9 this year.
