Anonymous collector shells out US$ 640,000 (€491,868) for the machine

An Apple-1 computer personally crafted by Steve Wozniak over 30 years ago has sold for the whopping sum of US$ 640,000 (€491,868) on auction at Team Breker. The figure is said to be a record for technical antiques.

The original Apple-1 sold by auction house Team Breker was in pristine condition, complete with a keyboard, a monitor, power supply, and storage cassettes. Even the papers accompanying the hardware are genuine.

According to the auction house, “This is the sensational 1st product of today's highest-valued company ever. This »Apple 1« set on offer here is 100 % authentic and in full working condition! Already a legendary milestone from the dynamic dawn of the personal computer age!”

Of the 200 Apple-1 computers ever created, only 50 are believed to have survived. Even fewer are in working condition, which explains the aforementioned insane price. Close-up photos of the computer are available below.
