Apple's Grand Plan?

Much of the recent success of Macs has been attributed by and large to 'the halo effect' from the iPod. Exactly
if and how this is true is quite irrelevant, and has been discussed many times; however, after seeing the results of Apple's quarter, one has to wonder, just how far can Apple go?

If the iPod helped Mac sales, it is pretty clear that - once the Mac reaches a certain critical mass - it will also, in turn, start helping iPod sales. And the two products will support each other. That all sounds pretty safe, but it's nothing spectacular; still, what happens when you add Apple's other products to the mix. How will both the iPod and the Mac help the new 'iTV' sales? And how will in turn the 'iTV' help both sales of Macs and iPods? What if Apple also launches the iPhone? If recent developments are any indication, each and every one of these products will help lift the others, and all of them together could lift Apple much further than anyone imagines.

The iPod alone gave Apple a big boost… What would Apple's growth look like with all these products in play, each one of them already being or promising to be a huge success. And once all these pieces fall into place, how could anyone ever hope to come in and break the Apple system?

"Much of the recent success of Macs has been attributed by and large to ‘the halo effect’ from the iPod."

That is, to put it simply, stupid. I for the most part can't stand ipods, primarily because they don't support FLAC or .ogg.

Yes they are getting better all the time, but still no go for me.

On the other hand their OS is brilliant, and I can't begin to tell you happy I am to be on a Mac again. As a Developer (and Designer), I still use my PC for legacy work, but prefer to work on a mac becuase it was made for a human, and designed.., as in some one really sat down and thought about what makes an OS and a machine good, as opposed to cobbled togehter in a factory of mass self perpetuation.

SImply put, they both have their place, but this is changing fast... very very fast... and it has nothing to do with the iPod.
