Still no exact launch date determined for the MacBook Air, but at least we know it's happening real soon, since Apple is now taking orders for a slim external optical drive, an Ethernet adapter, a Video connector and specifically-designed bags for the unconventional notebook.

Apple is taking orders for the MacBook Air SuperDrive on its
official website, while drive itself can read and write/burn CDs and DVDs, "taking up little space on your desk or tray table," in MacBook Air spirit, according to Apple. It measures 5.47 by 5.47 by 0.67 inches (139 by 139 by 17 millimeters) and weighs 0.71 pounds (320 grams). SuperDrive doesn't require a separate power adapter, it connects to the Air's single USB port and is now available for $99.

As for the Ethernet Adapter for wired networking, it features a light Ethernet dongle that plugs into Air's sure-to-become-overworked USB port, according to the company. The device is also available for purchase up on Apple's website and goes for just $29. Apple has confirmed it will be available within two to three weeks starting now.

The third add-on for the Air Apple's Micro-DVI to Video Adapter enables Air owners to connect to most of the older external multimedia devices (including TVs and VCR). Luckily, this device can enjoy the comfort of using its own port - the laptop's DVI (Digital Video Interface) port, which also includes S-Video and composite connectors that connect external multimedia devices (projectors, for example). The Apple Micro-DVI to Video Adapter will set you back $19.

Sure enough, you're not going to want to scratch your Air while carrying it from and to the office (or whatever your whereabouts are), so Belkin's Macbook Air Sleeve, made of neoprene, can protect the laptop from damage by absorbing shock. Starting at $29.99, the neoprene Sleeves will be available from March on. A $49.99 Sleeve, that includes leather and the option to access the laptop from the top or side, will start shipping in May.

WaterField's SleeveCase on the other hand is a hardcover bag, also designed to protect the MacBook Air from impact. It is made of thick synthetic nylon and neoprene, featuring over 50 available sizes. The SleeveCase starts at $38, depending on size and model. This one's already available!
