Still going strong...

This year on All Fool's Day, Apple celebrated its 31st birthday, and while it may be getting old, it is showing no sign of slowing down. While the past year has not been tremendous for Apple, it has nevertheless been a good year, which is something to brag about.

With the software and hardware transition to Intel, the development of the next version of OS X, Microsoft entering the portable music player market, and the Apple TV and iPhone in the works, the Cupertino Company had quite the busy year. With so many things on the plate, there was a lot of room for things to go wrong, and not everything went as smoothly as expected. From problems with MacBook plastics to software vulnerabilities and stow-away viruses on iPods, there were many things that did in fact go wrong, but all were solved in a timely manner.

Looking forward to the next year, it promises to be a lot more exciting. With Leopard just around the corner, the Intel transition coming to an end, the iPhone and Apple TV hitting the shelves, there is a little to look forward to for everyone. There will no doubt be surprises along the line, because Apple simply loves secrecy, but it is unlikely that there will be many new products until those that were underway mature.

For over 30 years, Apple has been dominating the look and feel of the computer industry, pushing the envelope and setting the trends. No other company in the industry has had as much influence and iconic products. While many might think that the Apple golden age is long past, many others still argue that that age is just coming around.
