App4Mac, which develops such notable Mac apps like CheckUp, and Sequence, has released Giddy Up, a product that aims to replace two discontinued apps - KidsBrowser and CutX. Supporting the latest technologies, Giddy Up is powered by the Apple HTML-based WebKit engine.

“Giddy Up is new product of our catalog,” app4mac announced on its website yesterday. “It's a secure web browser designed for kids,” the post read. “Giddy Up is replacing our discontinued products KidsBrowser and CutX,” app4mac revealed, and encouraged those who purchased a copy of either KidsBrowser or CutX to send an email with their previous license in order to get Giddy Up for free.

“Giddy Up was developed with the intention to create a browser that would provide the same ease of use as other browsers, while adding maximum security and protection for kidsl,” the company added. “All you have to do is to decide what content you want to display and leave the rest to Giddy Up. No programming skills are necessary. Giddy Up can be easily configured within a couple of minutes.”

According to its makers, Giddy Up allows parents to restrict access to some websites, the operating system, system settings, and even the downloading of files and applications. This way, both the kids and the computer are protected, the company suggests. Built with the Apple Safari engine (WebKit), the browser offers pretty much every feature that this technology has to offer. Technologies supported by the new Giddy Up web browser include Flash, QuickTime, PDF, Java, JavaScript, Ajax, https, HTML 4, and HTML 5. App4mac lists the following key features for Giddy Up:

- True web browser powered by Safari HTML engine; - Installed by default with websites for kids; - A user interface designed for kids; - URL control integrated; - Hundred of options to customize the child experience; - An amazing tool for schools.
