Microsoft is kicking up a notch a virtualization solution designed to cut both the costs and the time associated with application deployment in corporate environments. As of the past week, the release Candidate of Microsoft Application Virtualization is available for download from Microsoft Connect. The Redmond company is inviting early adopters to grab App-V version 4.6 RC from Connect and start test driving the solution immediately within their IT infrastructure.

The Release Candidate of App-V 4.6 is offered at just three months since the delivery of the beta Build, also on Microsoft Connect, recalled Andrew Montgomery, senior program manager Microsoft Application Virtualization. Customers interested in testing the next version of Microsoft Application Virtualization are free to grab the RC bits from Connect.

“We are excited to announce the availability of App-V 4.6 RC! In August we announced the App-V 4.6 Beta. Since then we have taken in lots of customer feedback and continue to refine the App-V 4.6 release so that we can deliver a great product! We invite you to check out the RC release by registering and downloading the App-V 4.6 RC release via Microsoft Connect, where you can also submit feedback directly to the team,” Montgomery noted.

Ahead of being permitted access to the App-V 4.6 bits, customers will need to fill the App-V 4.6 Public Beta Nomination Survey. Considering that the survey is just 18 questions long, it shouldn’t take too long until users will be able to get to the App-v 4.6 RC download.

“Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) enables you to transform applications into centrally managed virtual services to reduce the cost of application deployment, eliminate application conflicts and reboots, simplify your base image footprint to expedite PC provisioning, and increase user productivity,” Microsoft revealed.
