Using kannuu technology, Crimson Research has developed Thumbtacts, an application that allows contacts to be searched based on first name, last name or company at the same time while only using their thumb. Thumbtacts topped 10,000 downloads in under a week from launch and is currently listed among the top 10 Business applications on the iTunes App Store.

kannuu's iPhone SDK allows developers to incorporate indexing and lookup into their iPhone apps. It can be integrated in an infinite array of web or native applications in need of an elegant search solution, the developer says. "Think Spotlight for your application which allows you to index your data for fast retrieval," kannuu explains.

Furthermore, "Thumbtacts eliminates the need for a keyboard, track-backs to multiple and superfluous menus and settings, prevents fumbling through an A-Z search, or the frustrating auto-complete function, and alleviates the need to remember only by first or last names with the kannuu algorithm indexing and retrieving any data entered in the Contacts fields such as nickname, job title, and company name."

"Over 10,000 downloads, in less than a week of its release, and number eight in the Business category of the App Store certainly highlights the importance of an easy-to-use contact lookup application," said Sean-Michael Daley, CEO kannuu, Inc. "When it comes to advancing inventive offerings, the real champions are the application developers, and we aim to support their efforts at innovation with our rich set of powerful tools that provide for rapid and easy integration into their high demand OS X web-based and device native applications and projects."

Thumbtacts is available as a free download for iPhone and iPod touch users via the iTunes App Store, here.
