The third Open Mobile Summit, set to take place in London between 8-9 June, 2011, would be focused on app monetization, as the entire industry is racing the fast growing Apple iOS ecosystem.

Leading companies from the converging mobile, Internet and media space would be present at the event, while talking about how app publishers and media giants are working on gaining more market share in the area.

Recently, Amazon launched its own mobile applications storefront, entering a battle with Apple and other software and handset vendors that offer similar services.

Amazon's applications are currently available for devices running under Google's Android operating system.

Various CEOs and other representatives would be present on the floor at the Open Mobile Summit in London to present their views on applications for the mobile space, it seems.

The list would include, among others, Stephen Elop, CEO, Nokia; Olaf Swantee, EVP, Orange; David Ko, SVP, Zynga; Peter Vesterbacka, Mighty Eagle, Rovio; or Aaron Rubenson, Category Leader, Amazon.

Ajaz Ahmed, Chairman, AKQA; Kevin Lynch, CTO, Adobe; Mike Volpi, Partner, Index Ventures; and Christy Wyatt, Corporate VP, Motorola would also take the stage at the event.

Representatives from Groupon, eBay, O2, KPN, M&C Saatch, Conde Nast, Freemantle, Endemol, FT.com, BSkyB and MTV are also present on the 60+ speakers list.

“We’re especially excited to see so many of the world’s Internet and app market leaders joining the discussion here in London this year – as well as major European TV and media brands, global operators and device manufacturers,” Robin Batt, Executive Producer, commented.

“The variety of and seniority participants at the Open Mobile Summit make for very highly charged networking and discussions.

“This is not another mobile web event, but a place where world-leaders can meet in an intimate setting to explore the future,” Robin Batt continued. “Together we will build, and monetize, the open mobile economy.”
