A British couple's letter to burglars ransacking their house has gone viral on Twitter. The sarcastic note apologizes for the lack of expensive items and poor taste of the owners.

36-year-old Kate Barrett and her boyfriend, Dan Owens, also encourage them to knock if they need anything the next time.

“So many people just sit around and mope after being burgled — I thought it would be a good idea to leave them a note in case they come back or see it online,” Kate says.

According to NY Daily News, the letter pokes fun at her hoarding VHS tapes. It mentions her partners being upset about the fact that the thieves didn't run off with those.

The intruders broke through the patio after climbing the garden wall and they smashed a window to get in.

Examiner informed that there was a spare key to the house, but it didn't work. If it did, the burglars would have grabbed the TV station.

“As you now know, we don't have particularly expensive tastes so there's no need to come in again, unless you would like to take my collection of VHS videos and cassettes - Dan is very disappointed you didn't take these first time round.

“If you would like them just knock on the front door and ask - no need to break another patio door as it's dreadfully hard work cleaning up all the glass,” the letter reads.

The sarcastic letter also warns them about the dangers of leaving fingerprints – they can get you in trouble.

“Thanks for all the finger prints - we really appreciated those,” the note says.
