The space engines were discovered in March, future investigations revealed their origin

Only yesterday, it was announced that engines found at the bottom of the ocean some months ago used to be part and parcel of the Apollo 11 rocket.

Back in March, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and other daredevils recovered several engine parts from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

More precisely, they found thrust chambers, gas generators, injectors, turbines, and heat exchangers, and brought them all back to the surface.

At that time, Jeff Bezos suspected that these engines came from the Apollo 11 rocket.

However, he chose not to make any final statements on the matter. Instead, he waited for investigations to prove that he was right.

Turns out the wait was well worth it. Thus, it has now been confirmed that the F-1 engines Jeff Bezos and the folks at Bezos expeditions recovered from the Atlantic Ocean really did come from the Apollo 11.

The confirmation came after researchers had the chance to check out the serial numbers inscribed on these engine parts. The Inquisitr reports.

“Today, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news. One of the conservators who was scanning the objects with a black light and a special lens filter has made a breakthrough discovery – “2044” – stenciled in black paint on the side of one of the massive thrust chambers.”

“2044 is the Rocketdyne serial number that correlates to NASA number 6044, which is the serial number for F-1 Engine #5 from Apollo 11. The intrepid conservator kept digging for more evidence, and after removing more corrosion at the base of the same thrust chamber, he found it – "Unit No 2044" – stamped into the metal surface,” the official website for Bezos Expeditions reads.

Interestingly enough, the confirmation of the origin of these engines came just in time for the 44th anniversary of Neil Armstrong's moon walk.

As Jeff Bezos puts it, “44 years ago tomorrow [i.e. on July 21] Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon, and now we have recovered a critical technological marvel that made it all possible.”
