Lawrence E. Joseph, journalist and best-selling author, has announced "Apocalypse 2012: The Survival Guide," a downloadable application from Apple’s App Store. His e-Book “Apocalypse 2012: An Investigation into Civilization's End” is available from Apple’s iBookstore.

Joseph actually has two books on the subject, "Apocalypse 2012: An Investigation into Civilization's End," (2007) and "Aftermath: Preparing for and Surviving Apocalypse 2012," (2010), both having sold more than 200,000 copies in 25 languages worldwide.

According to his publisher, Vook, Joseph’s app shares his findings and recommendations based on years of research about the science behind solar flare activity, rising seismic and volcanic activity, and even the Mayan prophecy, which states that the apocalypse is coming in 2012.

"Apocalypse 2012: The Survival Guide" raises awareness of the potentially devastating events to occur next year.

In his books, Joseph mentions a 2003 solar storm that destroyed 14 high-voltage transformers in South Africa, leaving the country in darkness for weeks.

Two storms also occurred in 1859 and 1921, he recalls. These were even more powerful, he says.

In fact, the author believes that if similar storms were to hit today, “up to 100 million Americans could be without electricity for months,” according to his publisher.

“Joseph's highlights an unpreparedness to deal with the threat and draws parallels to the response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005,” Vook relates.

“Faced with a solar storm that could cause even greater devastation than Katrina in the near future, the potential impact on Earth's telecommunications, refrigeration, clean water and fuel is cause for significant concern worldwide,” the publisher notes.

"With this information being made widely available in app form, my hope is that more citizens will become aware of this potential crisis, and will pressure lawmakers to adopt the simple solutions that will protect our future," Joseph said.
