Apache Tomcat, an open source software implementation of the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies, developed under the Java Community Process, is now at version 8.0.0 RC11.

A new development build of the popular Apache solution has been released with a few changes and improvements.

According to the changelog, a regression that causes a context to be inaccessible after reload has been corrected, the session idle time calculations in PersistenceManager have been fixed, the duplicate registration of MapperListener during repeated starts of embedded Tomcat has been fixed, and an error message is now sent to Tomcat logs if the container background thread has aborted unexpectedly.

Also, a couple of rare but theoretically possible atomicity bugs have been fixed, unnecessary sleep has been removed, and it's no longer available when stopping a web application, pre-emptive authentication has been enabled, the handling of accept-language headers has been improved, and a thread safety issue has been corrected.

A complete list of changes, fixes, and new features can be found in the official changelog. You can download Apache Tomcat 8.0.0 RC11 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
