It has both a full-size USB port and a micro-USB connector

USB On-the-Go technology is the latest fad on the flash drive market, if only because there isn't anything else that this segment can label as “new” at this point. So here it is, the latest model.

Apacer is the company that made it. And “it” is the AH173 mobile flash drive that has a full-size USB connector on one end and a micro-USB on the other.

The micro-USB port is protected by a transparent plastic cap, while the other has no protection because the port is at the other end of the drive itself.

Between that and the strap hole on the side, the device looks like a jog of water from the side.

Apacer AH173 isn't all that shocking otherwise. It connects to both PCs and mobile devices, can use the latter as hosts like they would a PC, etc.

On that note, the capacity is of up to 32 GB, which can be very useful when you want to offload some of the photos and videos you took with your phone but aren't anywhere near civilization, or your hotel room. Or when you're just away from home.

It sure makes transferring files from a phone to a PC easier and faster, since Wi-Fi and Bluetooth aren't exactly perfect, and data cables might not be always on hand.

This device, though, you can strap to your key chain and carry with you everywhere.

That said, the AH173 is housed in zinc alloy and is just 6 mm thick, meaning you can even store it in your wallet or card case.

In addition to 32 GB, there are 8 GB and 16 GB drives in the Apacer AH173 OTG mobile flash line. Their prices, sadly, weren't included in Apacer's announcement. You'll have to keep an eye on your local retailer in case they show up there.
