Apacer has just announced that it has refreshed its line of PATA industrial solid state drives to feature new 2.5-inch and 1.8-inch high-speed and high-capacity AFDs that should be soon available as both standardized and customized modules.

These will be accompanied by a new generation of ADM 3G (ATA Disk Module 3G) modular SSDs that are designed so as to occupy about 58% less space than the previous drives and measure only 6.45mm in thickness.

Furthermore, these support both vertical and parallel power connectors and can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 degrees C to 85 C.

Moving to the newly unveiled standardized AFD (ATA Flash Drive) SSDs, these use SLC NAND memory chips and the 2.5-inch units are available in both 32 and 64GB capacities.

Sequential read and write speeds can go up to 125MB/s and 110MB/s and a 1.8-inch version of the drive, that is called the AFD 185, is also available. This supports ZIF connectors and has a capacity of 32GB.

Customers who require more storage space or cheaper SSD solution can opt for the company MLC NAND flash line of products, that includes the AFD 255-M, AFD 185-M and ADM 3G-M drives.

The AFD 255-M and AFD 185-M have maximum capacities of 256GB and 128GB, and sequential read/write speeds of up to 120MB/s and 90MB/s, respectively.

“We have been directing our attention to the development of industrial SSDs since 1999 — from industrial computers to applications for small-sized PCs.

“As the SATA interface goes mainstream, Apacer seeks to become long-term partners with users by releasing products with PATA interfaces based on the practical needs of IPC users,” said an Apacer official in a press statement.

The company hasn't made the prices of these SSDs official, but samples of the drives are available for testing as we speak.
