It connects to PCs via USB 3.0 technology and has a high durability too

Portable hard disk drive units usually make do with 500 GB or 750 GB, with the occasional 1 TB beast tossed around. Apacer wanted to go well beyond all of them though, so it launched an AC233 with 2 TB.

The AC233 already came in 500 GB and 1 TB, but now it can be found in 2 TB. Well, now or at least soon, depending on how fast retailers move.

Apacer didn't provide an ETA or even a price in its press release. It did say that the drive used USB 3.0 though and that the product was not as vulnerable to harm as others.

Sure, it probably won't survive being run over by a truck or anything too absurd, but it should handle mild drops and shakes.

Design-wise, we're looking at a deep black chassis with surf-like lines and a short USB 3.0 cable to connect to any PC in sight. The read and write speeds should be able to reach 110 MB/s and 105 MB/s, respectively.

Needless to say, USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports are supported, though performance will be stilted in those modes, to say the least. Dual-color LED indicators show whether it's USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 transmission rates that you have access to.
