Apacer Technology Inc., the fifth DRAM global module maker, has just announced it has won the FB-DIMM certification from Computer Memory Test Labs (CMTL), a leading independent memory module/motherboard compatibility testing organization responsible for testing a broad range of memory products, and is the only third party lab allowed by Intel to perform the Intel "Advanced Test" procedure.

Moreover, Apacer's FB -DIMM has also gained certification from CMTL for the Intel Bensley Platform S5000PAL. Apacer FB-DIMM utilizes Intel's unique FDHS (Fully DIMM Heat Spreader) design to release the heat from AMB and DRAM chips and further increase reliability when servers are operating.

"This excellent heat management performance of the heat spreader helped Apacer more easily gain Intel PMO certification. Apacer has also applied a special ID design to the heat spreader with an attractive green color and incorporating the Apacer logo to catch customers' attention and differentiate itself from the black and blue heat spreader colors on the market," explained the company.

According to Apacer's DRAM Director, Grace Lo, Intel chose Apacer as one of five worldwide partners for FB-DIMM development in 2004, because of the advanced position Apacer holds for server memory and Taiwan OEM/ODM manufactures' recommendations. "With Intel providing FB-DIMM development technology and Apacer's strong R&D background, manufacturing and testing capability, along with compatibility testing with top-tier motherboard and system makers in the world, after one and a half years, Apacer continues to lead FB-DIMM development with this CMTL certification," Mr. Lo commented.
