Visceral Games, the developer of the relatively new Dead Space franchise, has just revealed that players who have any type of save game file from the first Dead Space will get the original Plasma Cutter weapon in Dead Space 2.

Visceral Games is getting ready to ship Dead Space 2, the sequel to its survival horror franchise, which continues the story of the original and of its hero, space engineer Isaac Clarke.

As you can imagine, the team is really hoping that those who didn't have a chance to experience the original title, will buy it now and try to get up to speed with the adventures of Clarke against the evil alien Necromorphs.

In order to sweeten the deal, Visceral Games' Louis Gascoigne has just revealed that if you have any type of save game from the original title, Dead Space 2 will offer you a free version of the original Plasma Cutter weapon.

The save game file doesn't need to be 100% completed or anything like that, as any type of save will do.

Any upgrades made to the plasma cutter in the original, however, won't be carried over to Dead Space 2, in order to keep you from having an unfair advantage.

Still, it's quite a nice gesture for those that supported the original game when it was released back in 2008, and a decent incentive for those that didn't to get a taste of Dead Space before the release of the sequel later this month.

Dead Space 2 is set to continue the story of the first game, and see Isaac Clarke on the Sprawl space station, which has been overrun with the alien Necromorphs.

Besides the intricate single-player campaign, Dead Space 2 will also see a brand new multiplayer mode, with four-versus-four action between space marines and necromorphs.

Dead Space 2 is set to appear on January 25 for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
