Martin Cambell's The Mask of Zorro has a sequel, as well. The movie called "The Legend of Zorro", in which dashing Alejandro and sultry Elena, are married and have a 10-year-old son, Joaquin (Adrian Alonso), who doesn't know a thing about his dad's secret identity.
Catherine Zeta-Jones went back on the set together with Antonio Banderas, but without Anthony Hopkins, who is rumored to have asked too much money.
"We spent so much time classically training for the first movie, it really stood me in good stead," the actress declared.
"Although I was a bit rusty, it didn't take me too long to get into the swing of it", she added.
Antonio Banders thinks the script is fantastic, stating he has enjoyed working again with Catherine Zeta-Jones, with Steven Spielberg, the executive producer and, of course, with director Martin Campbell.
According to Hollywood Reporter, British actor Rufus Sewell (Dark City, A Knight's Tale) has been cast in the Mask of Zorro sequel, and he will play the part of Armand, a character described as "Zorro's rival for the affection of Elena."
"The Legend of Zorro" will hit theatres on November 4, 2005, according to CanMag.com.
Meanwhile, "The Mark of Zorro", the original novel by former newspaperman Johnston McCulley, will be re-released in August.
