Anti-Wrinkle Aldi’s Lacura Multi-Intensive Serum Is Best

Blind-testing shows Aldi’s Lacura Multi-Intensive Serum, £3.49, is the best anti-wrinkle cream at the moment

About a year ago, Boots registered incredible sales with its newly released No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum, an anti-ageing cream that was scientifically proven to actually work with wrinkles, as opposed to countless similar products on the market. Costing £20.50, the Boots product has just been beaten by a cream that comes at a fraction of the price, the new “miracle cream” as the Daily Mail calls it, Aldi’s Lacura Multi-Intensive Serum.

New research cited by the publication pitted Protect & Perfect against Lacura and, quite unexpectedly, the latter came out as the winner. The Boots product remains, though, a leader on the market of anti-ageing products, coming up in second place in terms of efficiency with all signs of old age. Still, since the difference in pricing makes Lacura (£3.49) by far the best option, it’s no wonder sales for it have increased by over 2,100 percent since the results of the study have been made public.

“Boots Protect And Perfect anti-ageing serum has been kicked into second place by a rival costing a fraction of the price. Aldi’s Lacura Multi-Intensive Serum is better than Protect And Perfect at reducing the appearance of wrinkles, according to a study. The serum is one of the cheapest around but beat 2,000 rival products in a series of blind tests. The Boots Protect And Perfect Intensive Serum came second. At £20.50, the Boots serum is six times more expensive than the Aldi version, which costs £3.49,” the Mail says.

“Aldi claims the serum’s combination of shea butter, macadamia nut oil and vitamins C and E smooth out wrinkles and improve the elasticity of the skin. A £1.99 face cream in the supermarket chain’s same range is also selling out fast after coming top of its class. Sales of the Lacura Shimmering Day Cream, which claims to make skin look more even and radiant, are up by 1,581 per cent,” the publication further says.

As also noted above, the results were achieved after 1,000 women blind-tested about 2,000 face creams. Products were put in unlabeled containers, with the same product going out for testing to ten women. After a period of using it, participants were asked to answer questions like whether they had noticed significant improvement in the appearance of the skin, whether female relatives and friends noticed it too and if they’d buy a new container of the product after they were done with that one.

I work for boots No7 and I have to say I'd love to see the ingredients list for this product. No7 price their products accordingly based on the work and ingredients used in the products. No7 are hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested, so it definatly has the up on the aldi serum. I wouldn't recommend this serum as personally I wouldn't trust it to do the same job.

I have been using this product for about 6 weeks and i must say in my honest opinion this stuff is great. my skin has never looked so good and also my mum who has used boots no7 for a while thinks lacura's cream is better . Others may not agree but this is just my finding ;-)

Take a minute to read through the comments under yours. Saying something is dermatolegest tested means nothing. It doesn't prove it's going to work for anyone or that it's a great product. If you're going to work for a company, you should realize that making assumptions about other products without any experience makes you sound inexperienced and biased, and that isn't going to help any in convincing people to go with your company. It's an affordable product that many people will turn to for that very reason, so it has that on the Boots. Many people have had good results with it. I haven't tried the Boots and I'm not claiming that the Aldi one is any better or worse, but I know that as long as I have this I won't need to waste my money on a more expensive product that may or may not work.

Have used the protect and perfect prodcut myself and didn't see anything remarkable about it. Think it's just the name you're paying money for. With all the good reviews Aldi's brand has been getting, I'll certainly be giving it a go

I have used the Boots no7 without much results and after reading the reviews for Lacura thought i would give it a try and i am amazed. I had one line on my forehead quite deep and it has almost disappeard i got stopped the other day and asked if i have had botox .. I am 38 with no wrinkles nor crows feet and pride myself on good skin care . I would highly recommend the Lacura due to its potency of ingredients which have been tested very thorughly, and it appears the potency of ingredients used are that of a standard to the £50-120 ranges.

Boots no 7 is ok but Lacura has been scientifically proven to have the highest of standard of ingredients.

Scientifically proven? All I see is some survey carried out by a commercial tabloid relying on people's anecdotal opinion. Sorry my dear but this is far from scientific.
This is the type of "research" that is written in fineprint in many of those 'miracle' antiwrinkle creams.

Lacura is Fab. Love it. Ihave worked for 3 major cosmetic companies in my life time (51 now) and Imust admit I LOVE ALL (MATURE) LACURA RANGE.

I haven't used this particular Lacura product, but I've used others just to see if they worked well for the price. I hated it and I am not willing to try it again anytime soon. It didn't even penetrate my skin. I kept trying to rub it in, but it just sat there in a greasy layer. I got disgusted and threw away the bottle rather than go through the hassle of going back to the store for a refund.

I love the Aldi line of Lacura! I was skeptical at first because I knew nothing about it until I did research. I am 36 and have ALWAYS had super flaky dry skin, not anymore! I have tried many expensive products. My search is over! Not only have I saved my skin I have saved money! I also love the Fit and Active line of food they have there as well. Aldi has changed life for me in many ways! I eat healthier I look better and my family has extra money in the bank! Thank you to Aldi and Lacura!

I have been using Lacura products for about 4 months. I gave up Oil of Olay when the Day Face Lotion with Beta Complex doubled in price in less than a year. Thus far, I have loved the Lacura skin care products, and you can't beat the price. I only wish they had spf.

Comment #11 by: grace on 15 Mar 2011, 12:29 UTC reply to this comment

Why doesn't this face cream contain
SPF? We all know that the most damaging thing for your skin is the sun. So it is pointless wearing a cream
that doesn't protect your skin. No cream will correct the damage caused by the sun.

Comment #11.1 by: Alibat on 17 Mar 2011, 13:04 GMT

It does say you can use it on its own or before your normal skin care so maybe pop your sunscreen over the top.

Comment #11.2 by: shelby on 18 Mar 2011, 03:59 GMT

yes I agree that some moisturisers should contain sfp, but sometimes if your barely out in the sunshine

Comment #11.3 by: Mimi on 18 Apr 2011, 23:29 GMT

I'm glad it doesn't contain an SPF and besides, serums usually don't ...if u want a sunscreen u can use thelacura one on top, it works really well under make up..

Comment #12.1 by: rosey on 02 Apr 2011, 05:37 GMT

buy it on ebay, that's about the only place you'll get it atm.

I have only been using the intensive serum for a short time, and i love it on my skin, but please tell me how do i get more, i cannot seem to get anymore when igo to an eldi store. Is there somewhere that u can order it . please help me out.

Comment #14 by: Joy on 17 Apr 2011, 07:15 UTC reply to this comment

I am 55 and due to the menopause my skin was looking grim, I've always had a skin care routine, but in all honesty never really noticed any difference in skin appearance whatever products I used. I have used Lacura multi intensive serum and eye cream with a spf30 block during the day and the double lift cream and Q10 cream at night for 1 week and am absolutely delighted...it is really working, and other people have noticed as well.

I have just begun usingLacura Multi Intensive Serum, about a week ago. I am 59 years of age. It is softening my skin markedly, but I am breaking out in pimples and blackheads are going red and festering out. Is this a cleansing process or should I stop using the producy as it is not agreeing with my skin? Could someone please advise me by email? Thank you. Sandra

have tried to purchase this product at aldi stores in both nsw & qld. Seems as if it's impossible to find. Would be nice if shelves were restocked promptly to allow customers to purchase this product : {

Do Lacura have a cream with an SPF factor?

Comment #18 by: mauz on 09 Aug 2011, 12:09 UTC reply to this comment

got the aldi body moisturiser in the blue bottle today and its true, i put it on my really dry legs and the dryness just went away after one application it is very thick so only a small amount, or you can get the normal skin formula which is not so thick but for the price, its a winner also got the serum will let you know after a couple of weeks

Comment #19 by: Aprilflowers on 09 Nov 2011, 19:01 UTC reply to this comment

I have used Lacura serum for 2 years plus other Lacura skin products. My skin is absolutely glowing and very moisturised, people comment on it all the time. The serum has been dermatologically tested and that costs money for trials so I feel ALDI is trying hard to provide a good product at an excellent price. I am in my early 60's and have always looked after my skin. I use the serum twice a day on face and neck and back of hands. It is non greasy and provides a lovely sheen to the skin. I buy 3 at a time when I am shopping at ALDI. At under £4 you can afford to try it and see results for yourself.

Comment #22 by: aldi fan1 on 11 Mar 2012, 15:05 UTC reply to this comment

Its true I've tried it and its amazingly better then the rest and that goes for almost everything from aldi its top shelf quality they have standards

Comment #23 by: Amanda on 23 Apr 2012, 15:14 UTC reply to this comment

I am fussy and find it very hard to find moisturisers that actually improve my skin over and above using nothing. Clarins is just too expensive, although does the job quite nicely. I am very happy to have found the Lacura range. It is as good on my skin as Clarins. I use the Multi-intensive serum and sometimes use the nightcream on top of it. I am 40, with pretty good skin - oily patches and tendency to break out if not scrupulous. I also use the eyecream at night. Unbeatable at the price, although I would pay more. I found the Boots products nothing special at all - if they were the same price I would definitely make the trip to Aldi.
