Russian short video ad maker, Trailer Studio is looking to revolutionize the world of mobile devices. The team is currently developing a design that has been called the “anti-smartphone.”

By itself, the Skvone can’t be used for much, so users will have to pair it with a tablet computer to make some use of it, reports Indrus.

The invention will be paired with the tablet via Bluetooth with the help of an iOS, Android, Mac or Windows app and thus allow the user to manage contacts, alarms and text messages on the Skvone.

Other functions include being able to view the entire call list and change ringtones. The Skvone is 95 x 45 x 7 mm / 3.7 x 1.7 x 0.2 inches so it can fit anywhere, even in your shirt’s pocket.

The gizmo resembles a remote control of sorts with big buttons and a small screen where information will be displayed.

Anyway, the features offered by the anti-smartphone resemble the functionalities of a smartwatch or smart wristbands, but this device will certainly be cheaper.

The Skvone’s back cover is made of aluminum and the front is built of refined plastic. The idea behind this project is that tablets users don’t really need smartphones anymore.

“A growing number of people always have a tablet computer with them wherever they go. As a result, all the things the tablets can do no longer need to be duplicated in a mobile phone.”

“But phone developers just ignore that; they keep cramming more and more processing power and functions into mobiles, thereby damaging a phone’s main functionality, such as length of operation on a single charge, quick and smooth navigation, and ergonomics.”

Note the anti-smartphone can be used on its way too and users can place calls and send/receives text messages if they like. The device lacks camera, menu, screen animations or anything fancy, so you’ll have to use it in concert with the tablet if you want to get more out of it.

Another interesting aspect about the phone is its capability of working 30 days (in standby mode) on a single charge The Skvone will probably make an appearance in 2014 and we don't have a pricing for it yet.
