Dan Sandler, the man known as the "Evil Elmo" in Times Square, has been convicted in an extortion case. Sandler, who also used the name Adam Sandler, would yell out anti-Semitic remarks in the street.

He was arrested in June for trying to extort the Girl Scouts organization and demanding $2 million / €1.48 million. He threatened with spreading rumors about them.

According to UPI, Sandler worked as a temp for the Girl Scouts before, and started sending them emails in 2012. He sent a photo of himself only partially clothed to his former supervisor and threatened her.

"If I go the controversial route I will probably publish fictitious content about the Girl Scouts. And name names….Like your name! Because you were my caring supervisor who now gives me the silence [sic] treatment," he wrote.

Sandler has been sentenced to spend a year in jail after a Wednesday hearing.
