A Tigers contractor has fired a man that many have come to associate Comerica Park with – Charley Marcuse, the singing hot-dog vendor.

Charley was a fixture, entertaining crowds at the stadium for the last 15 years. He is part of a union and he is fighting the decision which, according to DeadSpin, has nothing to do with his selling skills.

Apparently, contractor Sportservice got rid of Marcuse because he refused to put ketchup on hot-dogs. He is a firm believer in the fact that hot-dogs, a classic ballpark treat, are to be eaten with mustard alone.

He would say no to customers asking for ketchup and even get argumentative.

“It was general employee conduct,” Marcuse explains the reason he has been given for his termination.
