SECURITY FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS

Anti-Hack Encryption Technology

- Released by EADS

By: Alexandru Dumitru, Security News Editor

Encryption is really an issue these days. If you want your data to be protected, then you need to encrypt it with a "heavy" code. Systems are often hacked into and databases are being
breached, so your last stand is your encryption system. It helps a lot – if it’s really good, and the hacker will steal the coded info, it will be of no use to him, unless he can decode it. But that’s where EADS comes in. They’ve recently developed a new encryption technology, ECTOCRYPT, which revolutionizes the security and operation of communications networks.

The software has been under development for three years and now it has been displayed at this week’s DSEi defense equipment show in London, as The Telegraph informs. When I first read about it, I thought that it was intended for commercial use, but it seems that the company’s primary target are the government institutions and of course, the army, and only after these, come the commercial companies. This is bound to receive a lot of attention, especially if we keep in mind the recent news of Chinese hacker-attacks.

Gordon Duncan, a company representative stated that "All the computer technology in the world cannot break it," as the same site informs. As its developers have stated, this is going to bring data encryption in the 21st century, and to be honest, I hope they’re right, since some similar systems have been hacked by malicious users.

For those of you that were wondering who the developers were, I got this material straight from their website – The EADS Defence & Security Systems Division (DS) is a system solution provider. It combines military air systems, missile systems, communications and intelligence systems, global security solutions, as well as sensor and avionics systems into a single effective secure network.
