Antergos 2014.05.26, a distribution based on Arch Linux that used to go by the name of Cinnarch, has been released and is now available for download.

The only RC for Antergos was launched only a few days ago and now the final version of this very interesting OS has arrived. Besides the normal updates and improvements that are to be expected from a new build, the developers have also integrated a unique theme developed by the Numix project, which really sets this OS apart.

The default desktop environment used in Antergos is GNOME 3.12, but the developers didn't settle with just a simple implementation of the packages. They wanted to have something that catches the eye of any user trying this OS, so they used a new theme designed by the Numix project.

“This release brings with it many bug fixes and improvements. It’s finally here: KDE is now available directly from our installer (KDE 4.13.1 at the time of writing). We didn’t stop there though, we’ve also included MATE (MATE 1.8 at the time of writing)!”

“We have partnered with the Numix Project to theme all of our desktops. The Numix Square icon theme has replaced the old, but always remembered, Faenza. Zukitwo GTK, Gnome Shell, and Cinnamon themes have been replaced by the new, Antergos exclusive, ‘Numix Frost.’ In the future we will help the Numix Project to bring the popular ‘Numix Experience’ to QT and KDE Plasma,” said the devs in their announcement.

The team has also explained that a lot of work has gone into the installer. Users will notice that headerbars are now available in Cnchi (the installer), NTP (automatic clock synchronization over the Internet) has been added and it can be turned on and off during the installation, Cnchi now allows you to visualize and test your keyboard mapping, and users can now install various desktop environments straight from the installer.

According to the changelog, users can now see which mount points they must define in order to continue, a new flat design has been integrated in the progress bars, the code has been updated to Gtk 3.12, better font rendering has been implemented, a new hardware detection module has been added, the Numix Frost theme and Numix Square icons are now used, a lock screen extension for GNOME is now in place, and various other bugs have been corrected.
