Coming to keep summer heat away

When making a new mobile PC, notebook makers usually manage to put the parts together in such a way so as to not produce an overly high amount of heat. However, whether it is because of wear or because ambient temperature is higher than usual, laptops may become too hot to hold on one's lap or they might simply be in danger of failure because of overheating. Such occurrences are often associated with the rising summer temperatures. That said, seeing how June is not far off, Antec has decided to bring forth three notebook coolers.

The three notebook coolers are known as the Notebook Cooler Basic, Designer and Mini and, as it is expected, they do their best to merge both quietness and performance in a single package.

The Notebook Cooler Basic actually excels at silence, simply because it lacks active cooling altogether. Basically (no pun intended), the cooler is a 300-gram perforated aluminum panel measuring 27 (H) x 270 (W) x 240 (D) mm and supporting notebooks and Macs with screen sizes of up to 14 inches. It is priced at $24.95.

The second in the line is known as the Notebook Cooler Designer and can chill laptops of up to 15 inches. Measuring 42(H) by 330 (W) by 280 (D) mm, it boasts a USB-powered, 110mm fan with a maximum rotary speed of 800RPM, a sound output of 23 dBA and a price tag of $39.95.

Finally, the $29.95-priced Notebook Cooler Mini is the smallest of the lot, but, ironically, it supports the largest notebooks out of the three. While measuring only 25 (H) x 229 (W) x 121 (D) mm and weighing 200 grams, the cooler can work on laptops of up to 17 inches. It has an 80mm fan of its own, which, while smaller than the designer's, is faster (at 1,200RPM) and, most importantly, very quiet (a sound output of 18.8 dBA).
