High-end systems now have a suitable home without overmuch pomp

There may be no shortage of desktop PC cases, but one cannot really argue that there is a surplus either, so Antec just went ahead and launched the P280.

It is the latest of the Performance One line and is supposed to act as a dwelling for those computer configurations that aim high.

As such, Antec strove to make this high-end case convenient and easy to use, not just big and spacious.

That said, the case has three 5.25-inch drive bays (for optical disk drives), six 3.5-inch bays (can be used for 2.5-inch drives as well) and two dedicated 2.5-inch bays as well.

Nine expansion slots exist at the back, for whatever graphics card, sound card or other add-in-board users may own.

Furthermore, the product is large enough, and spacious enough on the inside, to fit even XL-ATX motherboards, as well as four-way multi-GPU configurations.

“Performance One has always had a special place in the hearts and minds of our customers. With convenience & ease-of-use coupled with an attractive price point, we expect P280 to introduce customers new and old to the next generation of Performance One,” said Mafalda Cogliani, global marketing director at Antec.

Besides the above, Antec outfitted the Performance one P280 with USB 3.0, USB 2.0 (two ports each), audio jacks and sound-dampening steel / polycarbonate side panels and a triple-layer front door.

Also, it chose pre-installed vibration-reducing silicone grommets for the hard disk drive (HDD) trays.

Finally, the aesthetics aren't overly embellished, but that only means that it will appeal to those gamers and enthusiasts that like functional and understated looks.

Antec should have the item up for order, on retail, in early December in the UK, at £119.99, which translates into 140.38 Euro or $186.47.

All UK resellers will get the product at some point during January, 2012. In the meantime, the product page has all the info anyone could look for.
