Powerful hardware is all well and good, but not when it makes more noise than an airplane. Knowing this, Antec has been selling super-quiet EDGE Silence Defined power supplies.

It is this collection of power supplies that got updated during the Consumer Electronics Show that took place last week (CES 2015). Well, among other things.

Previously, only two models made up that line, the 550W and 650W power supplies released back in September. Now, a third member has made its debut, the 750W EDGE Silence Defined.

In truth, all these PSUs are made by Seasonic and are only sold under Antec's brand. Which is just as well I suppose.

The 750W EDGE Silence Defined has a single +12V rail design, APFC (active power factor correction) and a 135 FBD bearing fan that only activates when a certain temperature threshold is struck.

That means that if you're just browsing the Internet or if the PC is idle, even in Haswell C7 low-power state, the PSU will be dead quiet.

Other perks include modular cabling, enough cables for a system with two high-end graphics cards, and rubber grommets and bands which dampen vibrations and make sure noise doesn't get too high even when the fan is active. Of course, it's up to you to find CPU and GPU coolers that are just as quiet.

Unfortunately, the price of the Antec 750W EDGE Silence Defined PSU is unknown.
