No one can argue with the fact that Antec builds some of the best power supply units in the industry, and, to underline this fact, the company has just announced that two world records have been set using the High Current Pro series HCP-1200 PSU that was used to power a high-end system with a power consumption up to 1700 watts.

The records were achieved by overclocker Nick Shih who employed four Radeon HD 5870 graphic cards in 4-way Crossfire for 3Dmark 06 and a 4-way SLI-configuration with GeForce GTX 580 cards for 3DMark 03.

The rest of the benching system was comprised out of an Intel Core i7 990X processor, that was overclocked to reach a maximum of 6,711.6MHz, an Asus Rampage III Black Edition motherboards, 12GB of A-DATA XPG+ memory, that were run at 1986MHz, and an A-DATA S599 solid state disk.

Just as the CPU, the graphics cards were also overclocked, as the GTX 580's were run at 920/1,100MHz and the Radeon HD 6870 GPUs were clocked at 894/1,200MHz.

All these were, of course, powered by an Antec HCP-1200 PSU that features no less than eight 12V rails rated at 30A each with a combined output of 90A.

Furthermore, the Antec PSU is also 80 PLUS Gold certified and features dual double-layer PCB and onboard DC to DC converters to provide better voltage stability.

“The High Current Pro series is positioned as the premium power supply line that provides customers with outstanding performance,” said Christoph Katzer, director of Business Unit 2, Power Supplies, at Antec.

“Antec is delighted to have its HCP-1200 set not one, but two, new world records, and the successes achieved prove Antec’s continued commitment to providing top-rated products to its customers,” concluded the company's rep.

The Antec HCP-1200 PSU is available from various online and offline retailers and is priced at $299.99 US.
