Another Trial for R. Kelly

Former associate claims he was beaten by the singer and his posse

A man who tries to pass as an 'uncle' to the R&B singer has complained to the police that, in February, he was brutally beaten in the basement of the Olympia Fields estate by R. Kelly and his other associates. Henry 'Love' Vaughn also claims breach of 'verbal contract', saying that the singer took his idea, made it into a song, but forgot to share the profits.

Vaughn said, until this past February, he had been like an 'uncle' to the singer, always accompanying him all over the place and offering him important advice on how to run his business, musically speaking. The plaintiff went to the police and said that, during a certain visit he paid R. Kelly, the singer got extremely furious for being told that his 7-year-old daughter was dancing inappropriately for her age, doing lascivious dance moves on one of the tables by the pool.

The alleged assault occurred when one of Kelly's personal guards began tossing him around the room. He was then taken, according to his testimony, to the basement of the building, dragged by none other than Kelly, where he was hit repeatedly with the fist all over his body.

'R. Kelly sees me bleeding, grabs me, hits me upside the head and takes me into the basement. Then he drags me up the stairs and past security at the gate', Vaughn told the police. The man also claims that the singer stole his idea for a song and never paid him for it. 'Steppin' in the Name of love' is supposed to be written on what Vaughn suggested to R. Kelly and for which he did not get the money he was promised.

When the police went to talk to the Kelly camp, the singer's attorney stated that Vaughn had, indeed, worked for him but that he was fired for being a drunk. It seems that a February incident did take place, but things did not go down as the plaintiff described. That day, he was so intoxicated that he started a fight and had to be escorted out by the bodyguards at the estate.

'His lawsuit is a pathetic collection of half-truths, distortions and outright lies', a spokesperson for R. Kelly said. A police investigation is currently underway to establish what exactly happened at the Olympia Fields mansion and who is to blame. No charges have yet been filed.
