While many were surprised when Marvel Entertainment announced that Robert Downey Jr. will wear the steel armor of the legendary superhero, it seems that the studio will go on with their decision. Even more, the project is evolving fast and another name has been attached to it.
Terrence Howard, who got an Oscar nod for his part in 'Hustle and Flow' (2005) will pair up with Robert in their bid to save the world. Howard will take on the part of Jim 'Rhodey' Rhodes, Tony Sark's best friend and sometimes companion in the fight against evil.
Although, in the comic book, Rhodes also wears an armored suit, equipped with blazing guns and all the works, it seems that the producers will save that for the sequel, provided that a franchise is established.
'The suit is purely and innovative creation, so this is Marvel meets Tom Clancy technology. Having the best actors for the key roles allows them to inhabit the hyperkinetic reality of this world', the Marvel Studios production president explained.
Shooting for 'Iron Man' will begin in February in Los Angeles, but the cast is yet far from completed. Paramount Pictures will release it on May 2, 2008.
