Yet another shocking elimination took place on the latest show of Dancing With the Stars on ABC. Chynna Phillips and partner Tony Dovolani were taxed for their tango by audiences and set home.
On movie theme night, the two chose the theme song to “Mission: Impossible” to dance the tango to, as the video below will confirm.
Though the routine kicked off very promisingly, things soon took a turn for the worse when it became clear that Chynna had forgotten her stepps.
Next thing, she panicked and had to be practically led through the routine by force by Tony. Viewers at home saw that and taxed it accordingly, TooFab informs.
What’s shocking about the elimination is that the two were actually one of the most promising pairs in the competition and, even with the ruined tango, they still got a pretty decent score.
“Two couples who had never been in the bottom two before – Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke and Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani – found themselves at risk of going home,” the e-zine reports.
“In the end it was Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani who went home. The couple had shown early promise – topping the leaderboard in the first week,” TooFab writes.
“Chynna’s poise and long lines were praised by the judges, but a visible error in their ‘Mission Impossible’ tango sealed their fate. Chynna completely forget her steps towards the end of the routine and froze,” adds the same publication.
After the announcement that they were out of the show, Chynna owned up (again) to her mistake and said that it was entirely her fault that they’d been voted off.
Her partner Tony, she said, had done everything in his power to keep them both in the running but she messed it up.
Check out the video below of their tango to see what she’s talking about.
I think that if all of the good dancers are sent home early, why keep watching the show. One mistake should not take out talent or dancers with promise. The judges scores need to be more important if the fans are not going to vote what is truely right.
This program is no longer a "dancing" competition; merely a "popularity" competition. I, for one, have the choice of NOT watching it anymore...I'd rather see talent versus Cher!
