This just came in: another rapper-based feature film will soon be released by Universal Pictures. Following other two movies that did wonderfully at the box-offices in later years, 'Get Rich or Die Trying' (starring 50 Cent) and '8 Mile' (semi-autobiographical story of Eminem), the new motion picture is to present the early beginning of rap artist and producer, Missy Elliot.
What's even more thrilling is the fact that the film is said to be produced by none other than big-time actor Robert DeNiro, in collaboration with Jane Rosenthal, through their Tribeca Films Company, and Missy's manager Mona Scott. The script will be written by Dianne Houston.
The project doesn't have a title yet but it is almost sure that it will depict the first years of Missy's career, when she sang with a group called 'Sista', before deciding to turn her attention towards rap music, a solo career and producing. Elliot is one of the few female artists on the hip-hop music stage that write and produce their own songs almost entirely.
