Eddie Murphy sure knows how to make women love him

Now, who said that Pammy Anderson held the celebrity record for the shortest marriages? I know that at some point we all made fun of Pammy's brains marrying one guy after another and then divorcing them at increasingly small intervals. She stayed married to Kid Rock (or Kid Pebble, call him whatever you want) for a little under four months, and her latest marriage to professional poker player Rick Salomon - yes, that Salomon who made Paris famous for historically spreading her legs on tape - is on its way to an untimely grave. But the fact is, we've treated Pammy very unfairly, and we'll probably burn in hell for doing it. What makes me say that? Well, another... ahem, controversial face out there when it comes to marriage and taking responsibility for his own kids - I'm talking about the one and only Eddie Murphy - has just ended his marriage after a record 16 days. Talk about cheap and fast...

It turns out, Murphy and Tracey Edmonds - yeah, THE Tracey Edmonds - decided to go their separate ways after being together for just 16 days. The two were married in Bora Bora on New Year's Day in a ceremony that seems not to have been legally binding, but rather mark their commitment to one another on a spiritual level. However, it was also announced that they had planned a civil ceremony in the US to make the marriage official. This is all a little confusing - but I will choose to regard their "spiritual" union as a real marriage. I have a feeling they regarded it as the real thing, too, and wanted everyone else to look at it as a real wedding.

After all, there were wedding photos and a wedding dress and pretty much everything else that we associate with a celebrity wedding - too bad the miracle only lasted less than three weeks.

"After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further. While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends" reads a statement from the two former newlyweds. Well, I admit I have a problem with the phrase "after much consideration". When did they have time for that much consideration, I ask you? I mean, they had to fly back from Bora Bora, move in together (something they had not done prior to their marriage), and then have enough time to discover each other's disgusting habits and feel they simply couldn't live under the same roof anymore. Gotta give them props - some people need 20 years to do that and they managed it in two weeks. Well, stay tuned and we'll be keeping you up to speed - as usual.
