Microsoft has lost yet another high-profile executive, as SkyDrive manager Mike Torres has decided to leave the software giant for a yet-to-be-revealed job at Amazon.

GeekWire writes that Torres, who previously worked as a group program manager for SkyDrive, will join Amazon in a couple of weeks, but no other specifics have been provided.

Torres has already confirmed the switch, but he remained completely tight-lipped on the reasons behind it.

“While it was a very tough decision to leave Microsoft, I simply couldn’t pass up this opportunity to be part of such an incredibly exciting new initiative for Amazon,” he explained in a statement.

CEO Steve Ballmer is reportedly preparing a major restructuring plan for Microsoft, so it’s not yet clear if Torres’ departure is part of this new shift that could reduce the company’s business divisions to only four.
