Hoax Slayer warns that yet another bogus Facebook profile viewer application – which promises users they can find out who has been accessing their profile – is making the rounds on the social network.

“WOW! I just tried this newest app here and I just f0und 0ut l0ts of users visited my pr0fle this week, h0w ab0ut u d0 u know now ab0ut this newest app? check 0ut n0w wh0 viewed ur pr0file,” read the scammy posts.

Users who click on the links contained in them are taken to a Facebook page where they receive instructions on what must be done to install the app.

Once they begin the so-called installation process, users are told they must log in to their profiles to verify their age.

During this age verification process, victims are actually tricked into handing over their authentication tokens, which the scammers can use to temporarily access their accounts and post messages on their behalf.

After this is done, users are instructed to complete various surveys. While the surveys might seem harmless, the crooks earn a certain amount of money each time someone completes them.

In addition, victims are required to hand over some personal information, which the scammers can abuse in various ways.
