Some time ago, we talked about a powerful crisis that started in the internal organization of Yahoo that produced multiple departures, new staff and an internal memo that was meant to underline the fact that the company needed a shock to revamp its success.
The departures mania started with 2 Yahoo executives that decided to leave the company to lead their own firms and ended with Yahoo China's president that was hired at Alibaba website.
Then, the Yahoo crisis was continued by an internal memo
created by a company's executive that said that the giant portal urgently needs a shock to revamp the company. It was obvious that Yahoo was going down but their managers decided to bring a hope to their customers by making substantial offers to Metacafe, the ex-YouTube rival, a video service that was acquired by Google.
Now, it seems like the company is still in a deep crisis because another employee wrote on his blog that it plans to leave the company at the end of the month.
Tim Converse, an engineering manager in Yahoo!'s Content group, said that the departure is not related to his job, adding that he decided to leave because he had never worked for a startup before.
"The decision was hard, because there is absolutely nothing wrong with my Yahoo! job. The people in Engineering, Research and Applied Research (the last of those being where I currently work) are both top-flight and really nice. The company has been good to me, and kept giving me more scope and new interesting problems to work on. And I am proud of the team that I've put together over the last couple of years," Tim said.
The Yahoo employee also mentioned that Yahoo's search engine has a bright future, confirming the current problems with search-ad quality and monetization issues that are going to be fixed soon.
