The Stratfor data leak is still being put to good use

When Stratfor was hacked last Christmas, Anonymous publicly made available the entire subscriber email database. It turns out that someone put that massive list of emails to good use and sent the owners of the addresses the schedule for Occupy protests planned for later this year.

According to City Security and Resilience Networks (CSARN), the message received by the victims of the Stratfor hack contains the dates of two major protests: Occupy Houses of Parliament in London on November 5 and Occupy Congress in Washington DC, planned for November 11.

The notification also urges recipients to view a video called “Nazi Banksters Crimes Ripple Effect,” and spread the message to their friends.

Finally, a link contained in the email points to a number of flyers that advertise the events.

Stratfor subscribers who may have received the email can rest assured that it’s unlikely that a second breach affected the think tank, the addresses probably being obtained as a result of the first hack.
