They probably don't want to risk the lives of innocent bloggers

The Mexican faction of the hacktivist group denied any implications in the video that was recently launched in which they threatened the Zetas criminal organization.

According to Mexican newspaper Milenio, two of the members of Anonymous, Skill3r and Glyniss Paroubek, came forward and made a statement in which they claim that the video released earlier wasn't coming from them.

"It's very easy to make a video on behalf of Anonymous and launch air threats, but to think, plan and evaluate the pros and cons is another story," reads the translation of their statement.

When asked about what they have planned for the future, they revealed that they will continue other operations, but for now they hope to make it clear that the cartel operation is false.

Another statement from the hacktivists wants to make sure everyone gets the message.

"Dear followers and supporters of this page (Anonymous). I hereby disclaim Mexico Anonymous entirely of the responsibility of the news of hacking a page that is allegedly linked to the Zetas cartel."

This comes after someone claiming to be part of Anonymous decided to retaliate against the cartel for kidnapping one of their members during a street protest. At the time, many voices raised concerns about the implications of such a hacking operation.

Many feared that the Zetas will retaliate especially considering the fact that recently, 35 of their members were killed, their bodies being dumped on a highway.

It remains unclear if Anonymous just wants to clear its name to make sure no one will get hurt or in fact it wasn't them that launched the threats against the Zetas. Whichever the situation, it's probably the best to call off the operation as who knows how many innocent bloggers would have suffered. Tech Eye found out about cases where bloggers were hung and social media reporters were supposedly decapitated by the cartel to warn other snitches of the consequences of their actions.
